It all started at Parker field during a game of baseball. He was playing and she was there with some friends watching the game. The two introduced themselves to each other that day and so began their love story. It's safe to say that baseball has a special place in this relationship. :)
Together with their friends and family, Erik proposed to Ashley on her twenty-first birthday!
They took their time when they began planning their wedding and since Ashley is so close with her grandparents, the two wanted to share their wedding date with them since this year was a big anniversary for them. Ashley was able to incorporate a few special touches by using their original wedding knife set during their own cake cutting as well as sharing a special dance with them.
"We are extremely blessed. It was awesome to share this day with my grandparents who celebrated their 45th anniversary."

I've met some pretty awesome folks since moving here to the Tri-Cities back in 2010 and these two are some of the ones I met, stayed connected with, and have done life with. Shawn worked with my mom and Christina assisted me several times has since gotten into photography herself. (Go check out her work by the way! Christina Kliphardt Photography.)
Several months ago I got the call from Shawn telling me he was finally gonna pop the question! It was a huge moment as a photographer to witness that, but more importantly as her friend. Thanks for inviting me in to witness another intimate but monumental moment in your lives together. Now on to the next one... their wedding day!
In April of 2010 the two were introduced through mutual friends, and although they couldn't have been more different, they hit it off right away. As life continued to move forward, both getting their dream jobs, adopting pets, taking fun trips, and spending time with friends and family, David popped the question on the beach at sunset while at one of their favorite vacation spots on the Oregon coast.
Their wedding could be described as a joyful celebration with their community.
"So many friends and family members joined us on a warm spring evening at the most beautiful venue overall! I wanted a romantic and earthy vibe for the wedding . I tried to put a lot of personal touches into the planning from what I pictured the bridal party wearing - my favorite color scheme and even The live band which I absolutely loved!"
The members of the band were college friends of David’s where they all attended Whitworth together.
Such a fun and memorable evening! Congrats Emily and David!

Their story begian long before their relationship did. Only as acquaintances in highschool, their friendship began back before Neil even had texting on his phone. Talking day and night on MSN messenger, they'd talked about anything they were doing or about nothing at all. But there was always a conversation going. There were lots of late night/early morning trips to the gas station and they'd often be up just talking about random stuff until the sun came up. They had a complicated friendship – Neil knew that Emily was the love of his life and Emily was not ready to risk one of the best friendships anyone has ever had.
About six years later they finally started dating. No one was surprised by this, but all the same they were ecstatic. The relationship started out as if they had already been dating for years. Right away they knew that if we were going to date, they were going to get married.
For three long years Emily waited for that proposal. Waited, encouraged, and threatened. On the weekend before their third anniversary they took a trip to Seattle and explored the very rainy city. Emily waited all weekend for a proposal, had fancy dinners, drinks at intimate diners. Nothing. Then on the day of their third anniversary, Emily, suffering from a cold, no doubt brought on by the previous weekends rainy walks was persuaded to go on yet another hike with Neil up Candy Mountain. After countless minutes of Neil admiring the view and pacing the top of the mountain got down on one knee and asked Emily to marry him. Finally! :)
The wedding day was perfect and though things got slightly off schedule, you can see how beautiful and stunning she and everything else turned out.
"We couldn’t have had a more wonderful day with our friends and family."
Lastly, instead of using their engagement session BEFORE the wedding since she's got a pretty awesome sister for a photographer as well, we went out a few days later and took advantage of the beautiful sunset out at the dunes.
Congratulations Emily and Neil. Thanks for letting me tell your story through my lens.

Vancouver, WA - Ryan was finishing his education
degree while substitute teaching, and Kat was working at a dental office as a
dental hygienist. They booth had taught the same health class at a local highschool and Kat's step-sister was in Ryan’s class. She played matchmaker and set them up.It didn't take long before they both realized there was a very connection.
While on a hike called McCord Creek trail in the Gorge, Ryan delicately placed the ring box in her coat pocket and waited until she found it. There at the waterfall He asked her tomarry him and she said, “of course!”
On a what's typically a cooler and sometimes overcast day here in the spring, these two got a beautiful, sunny, and warmer wedding day.
"We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day for our wedding celebrated
with our closest family and friends. Ryan was happy to find pants the last
minute (he forgot them) and I was happy to have a Golden Hour! We both
cherished the ceremony and how intimate it was. We wanted to devote and
give thanks to God for bringing us together. We were also fortunate to share
the day with my grandparent’s 50th wedding anniversary."
Thank you Ryan and Kat for allowing me to capture this very special day of you as you unite your lives together with your friends and family

After making the trip from Portland all the way to the lower valley, these two followed me up the steep and windy hill to the top of Lincoln Grade in Prosser, WA. By the time we reached the top it was evident that we'd have to move to another spot due to the crazy amount of wind up there. That said, they were troopers and trusted me in that we would have a beautiful shoot still and there's no doubt that with the sunset flowing its beautiful golden haze behind us, that that's exactly what they got.
Cannot wait for the next time we meet when you two finally get married! :)
Lance and Jess first met in the spring of 2014, at Roasters coffee shop in Richland where she was working. After a few failed attempts at meeting due to her nervousness, he finally took initiative and came into the coffee shop to say hi. From the moment he walked through that door her heart was racing and he said he felt the same.
"The feelings we both had internally was something we both later confirmed was love at first sight. It’s safe to say our fire started right then and there and we've been unable to put it out ever since."
The setting was set. It was New Years Eve 2016, and there under the Space Needle in Seattle, Wa with the twinkling and bright colors of the fireworks up above, Lance dropped down to one knee and asked Jesslyn to be his wife. Full of shock she spun around, caught her breath, and gave him what she says was the most assured answer of her life, YES!
"I am not sure if he had Nicholas Sparks in on this or not but at that moment of our kiss it started snowing so perfectly, something straight out of a movie and something I will never ever forget.
What followed that night proved to these two that they were in for many adventures together and what was most important... their love together. After a change in venue they settled on the family ranch in Idaho. The place was stunning with lots of greenery and an overlook that takes your breath away, But... as luck would have it, the day surprised them with a forecast full of rain. They quickly changed the plan of having the ceremony out in the open wrapped with pine trees to having it under the covering at the family hockey rink. Yep, it was on a hockey rink. :) The photos proved though how beautiful it all turned out and I couldn't be happier for these two. Cheers to the new Mr. and Mrs. Pyle!

It all began at Whitworth College in Spokane, WA. They both were taking Intro to Philosophy and Ashley was desperate to find a tutor so she could successfully pass the class and apply for nursing school.
"I waited after class to find Jamie and his friend who sat in the front row and seemed like they we're philosophy nerds. Turns out I was right because and after my tutor sesh, I aced the class!" Jamie's version of the story is that he and his friend hi fived after I talked to them and said, "man girls like her never talk to guys like us!
Since Ashley isn't one who's easily surprised, Jamie told Ashley they were going to go on a casual hike to Deception Pass.
"We got to the beach and as I turned around, he was standing in a heart made of rocks. I still was clueless until he said, "come kiss me in this heart." He looked at me with a serious face and said "Ashley..." and he got down on one knee. When we went back to his parents house to celebrate, his mom asked if I would go look in the pantry to find some flowers...when I opened the door, my whole family jumped out and surprised me! They had driven 3 hours to come and be with us!"
There's no doubt these two will keep each other on their toes and I couldn't be more excited to be a part of their journey and capture them when they exchange vows very soon. :)
Congrats you two!
On a warm summer day in June of 2015, Madeline and Nolan were both working at their church's carwash to fund raise money for summer church camp. It's no surprise that Madeline caught his eye and the two quickly hit it off. That friendship matured into a deeper relationship and after a year of being best friends and on the night of Nolan's internship graduation, he asked her to officially be his girlfriend.
"I told her we were going to watch a movie. So we sat down and watched all the commercials and then when the "movie” started it was our song followed by a slideshow of our pictures together. At the end it said, “Will you be my girlfriend?”
Dec. 26th 2017, Nolan arranged for a limo to pick Madeline up. As she got inside she was handed a note and what followed would change the direction of her life forever. The first stop was to the same spot they first met and where he had told her he loved her for the first time. Following a trail of rose pedals she found a note and was then directed to go to the next spot, his home. This is where they shared their first dance and kiss. She followed more rose pedals finding another note directing her now to the lighthouse. As the limo pulled up to the lighthouse, there Nolan was waiting.
"She walked out of the limo and into the snow, never looking more beautiful."
He got down on one knee and asked her to be his forever. These two have something so beautiful and so special and I cannot wait for the day when they finally say "I do's."
A little over nineteen years ago, I was seventeen years old and heading into my senior year of high school. It was on a warm summer evening that I ran into the boy I had thought about over the years and held onto as my first crush when I was a little girl. He was now all grown up, witty, sharp, and such a cutie. I knew he was different and wanted to know him more.
Fast forward four years later and we were married with three kiddos and living in Portland, OR where he was going to school. I had no idea all the hardships we'd have to endure together, but looking back it's because of those challenges that we are as strong as we are today. We've laughed and cried together. We've experienced loss and the joy of having our fourth child when we didn't think it was possible. I can't imagine a day without this man in my life, the father of my children. God knew exactly what he was doing when he put him deep inside my heart all those years ago.
One of the greatest gifts we ever received earlier on in our marriage was a trip to a marriage conference. It was then that our marriage changed. Because I was young (19) when we got married, I was a pretty selfish person. That conference taught me so much about love and what it meant to serve someone other than just myself. Since then we've continued to intentionally pour into our marriage and last spring after attending A Weekend to Remember, (the same conference we've been going to,) we decided to renew our vows for our fifteen year anniversary.
With our family and a few of our closest friends we renewed our vows once again and had an incredible night celebrating almost twenty years together. It was a night I will never forget and have to thank so many people for coming together to make it absolutely perfect. Amanda, you poured a lot of time and attention to detail to make it exactly how I imagined.

Jay and Amy met back in 2007 when while she was working at Yakima Federal Saving & Loan in Pasco as a management trainee. You could say their first encounter was a bit memorable as Jay gave her a not so great first impression. ;) A week later she caught his attention and he made sure to change that impression and asked her out on a date. She said yes and so began their journey.
After receiving news they were expecting, they decided to tie the knot at the same location they had their first date, Cedars! This all happened very suddenly as he proposed on Christmas Eve and they were married on December 28th. We both had a good laugh when she told me he might have been motivated by the big tax break of having a child as the reason for the speedy wedding. :)
These two have had a remarkable ten years. They have three beautiful children, moved five times, grew a business, started two other businesses, and of course with any marriage, it's been full of many ups and downs. But it's one they would do all over again, which is where this day came in. On their nine-year anniversary Jay re-proposed in the exact same fashion that he did the first time around. And by exact, I mean exact! He asked her dad at her parents home (again,) but this time with a stunning new ring. And I mean STUNNING! He wanted to give her the “wedding we never had” on their ten-year anniversary. So on December 28th, 2017 they gathered with their family and friends at Swiftwater Cellars in Cle Elum, WA. for a night she says, "was the most magical day of my life!" From all the twinkle lights, the constant snowfall out the windows, a custom made gun by Jesse James himself, to the candlelit dinner down in the cellar of the winery. There was no better way to end the night than with everyone out on the dance floor singing and dancing to their favorite songs. It was all perfect.
Congrats Amy, Jay, and family on a beautiful celebration of your love these past ten years. Cheers to many more years! Enjoy. (Scroll to the bottom to see the epic video by Justin Frick.)

Leslie and Derek, you two not only picked such a gorgeous location for your session, but it couldn't have been a nicer day. All the beautiful shades of gold and greens from the foliage to the blue greys of the river and finally the sunset glow that wrapped itself around them up on top of the cliff overlooking the orchards. Folks, be prepared to see an incredible winter wedding coming later this winter as they say their vows in a destination wedding in the mountains.
Now that fall is making it's presence known by the sudden dip in temps, I wish I could bottle up all of the dazzling light we had on this gorgeous evening. We actually had our first meeting on the day of this shoot and as it sometimes goes, they were not quite sure what to expect being this was their first time taking photos together, with the exception of the usual selfies. ;)
Jess and Lance, you two made my job SO easy and you are complete naturals. I look forward to your wedding day and making more memories with you guys then!
Thanks you guys for adventuring with me!
Lexie and Ruben’s rustic wedding in early August was full of romance, whimsy and infectious joy. But before every beautiful wedding there is a sweet beginning, the Magana’s is no different. During a summer home from WSU, Lexie met Ruben while working together. As fate would have it, Ruben had recently put his two weeks’ notice in before Lexie started. Fortunately for these two, he decided to stay on and a few years later, surrounded by their friends and family on New Year’s Eve, Ruben asked Lexie to marry him.
Joined by their friends and family on a warm, desert night, Lexie and Ruben pledged their love for one another at Tucannon Cellars. Much of their wedding was made all the more special with handmade touches from both families. Lexie’s parents lovingly crafted many handmade details including their head table while Ruben’s family outdid themselves with an abundant and delicious taco bar, each element put the finishing touches on the gorgeous day. From the beginning of their story, to the engagement, to the wedding, the Magana’s were wrapped up in the love and support of every person important to them, both friend and family alike, and their wedding was a testament to that love. From the tangible joy, the electric excitement and the warm embraces shared, nothing was more apparent than the affection these two’s lives created when together.
Cheers to Mr. and Mrs. Magana! Thank you for letting me share in your day.

Stephanie and Kevin’s dazzling day was chock-full of the makings of a story book wedding, which isn’t surprising seeing as these twos tale is one fit for a fairy tale. Ten years in the making, this love story started with the shy stages of a middle school crush that sweetly wound itself into a beautiful covenant shared amongst the folds of family and friends. From the streets of their neighborhood on Halloween, to the hallways of a high school, to the top of a hill their Sophomore year all roads eventually led them to the Seattle waterfront in July of 2016 where Kevin asked Stephanie if she would be his forever.
Set against the backdrop of the historic Davenport Hotel, Stephanie and Kevin’s day was filled with the type of love that comes when two people gather those who have loved, supported and encouraged them over the years in one place as they pledge their lives to one another. Pair that with delicious food, a party bus, dancing and even a rainstorm in the middle of pictures and you have the makings for one of the best chapters of your love story.
Congratulations, Stephanie and Kevin may you share many many more blessings together on this journey called marriage.

It was a perfect May day (yes, I'm a little behind on getting these lovely images on the blog,) and Shantal and Matt were excited, a little nervous, and both were finally ready to say their I do's. Shantal looked stunning in her Stella York gown and patiently waited to take her fathers arm and walk down the aisle to meet her groom for the first time that day. The ceremony was beautiful and the reception started with a fantastic dinner followed by dancing and a sunset session that still takes my breath away! Shantal and Mathew, thank you for letting me in and capturing your perfect day.

Karla and Jose got married on a bright blue and sunny day surrounded by their closest friends and (BIG) family. The moment I saw her I couldn't stop staring at how gorgeous she looked in the stunning Allure wedding gown. I'm a sucker for two toned gowns as my own wedding dress was also two toned. ;)
They wed at Sacred Heart Catholic church, but before that we hopped on over to Martinez Martinez for their first look and a few shots of them together. I mean, is their building stunning or what?! During mass they had a vocalist who had the most amazing voice that lingered through the church while they all listened the and the bride and groom sealed their vows with a kiss.
Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Palomarez and many blessings to you both as you begin your new lives as husband and wife.
Rewind to this past spring when the sun FINALLY started showing it's beautiful yellow light in the evenings and we could finally say goodbye to the very long winter of 2017. I was so excited to run around with these two to a few of my favorite local spots and we were able to have a fantastic time and of course get to know each other more before their big day. Kayla and Ryan, I cannot wait for your wedding in the next few weeks! Until then everyone, enjoy these images from their engagement session because soon enough I'll be sharing their wedding photos!
